Stop Keyboard Sounds When Recording
Isn’t it the worst when you record a game or tutorial only to notice those annoying keyboard clicks in the background. Maybe you can upload or stream it anyway and hope people don’t notice. In my experience I have always been called out for this.
What I have found is a combination of things can either eliminate or almost get rid of the keyboard clicks, both pre and post production.
The single best investment I have made is a clear keyboard cover for my Mac. This “Muffles” the keyboard clicks enough, and removing the background noise in post editing gets rid of the rest of it to a very acceptable level.
This combined with my Blue Yeti Microphone which is mounted on the side of the desk, with a shock mount attached to the Microphone has yielded the best results. The shock mount prevents vibrations from the keyboard going through the desk, up to the microphone, its surprising how much of an effect this can have!
If you don’t have a shock mount, but an external microphone I would recommend placing it on a separate surface as possible to prevent these vibrations. If you don’t already have an external microphone I would highly recommend one.
You can get the keyboard cover on Amazon or eBay.
